Our faculty expect a lot. And give even more.

Progressive education demands a different sort of student-teacher relationship…one of partnership and shared inquiry. Our faculty are expert educators, passionate about their subject matter. It matters to them that students are engaged, active participants in the work, which means that classroom discussions are lively and challenging. They also care deeply about the interests and achievements of each student, which is reflected in the many 1:1 conversations you’ll have, and in the thoughtful comments you’ll receive at the end of each mod. Another benefit of the mod system? With 18-24 blocks per year, and small class sizes, you’ll get to know at least 15 of our incredible faculty members each year. And perhaps even more important…they’ll get to know you.

CSW—a gender-inclusive day and boarding school for grades 9-12—is a national leader in progressive education. We live out our values of inquiry-based learning, student agency, and embracing diverse perspectives in every aspect of our student experience. Young people come to CSW to learn how to learn and then put what they learn into action—essential skills they carry into their futures as doers, makers, innovators, leaders, and exceptional humans who do meaningful work in the world.
