Girls XC Runners Finish in the Top 10; Boys' XC Team Takes 3rd Place

Lisa Mikkelsen
An unexpectedly hot and humid day made for tough running conditions for the Cross Country meet at Waring yesterday. Still the team rose to the occasion and ran well. There were 8 teams participating with 83 boys and 45 girls finishing the race. The Boys took 3rd place, a mere 6 points behind the 2nd place team. Every runner’s effort is important in Cross Country! Ben Duffy-Howard (’19) continued his streak of leading the team’s scorers, coming in 12th. Next came Jose Melo (’19) finishing 15th, Dmitri Kiryk (’21) finishing 16th, Surya Rajamani (’22) finishing 22nd and Jack Zhang (’20) finishing 23rd. Matthew Ramirez (’19) along with first time scorer, Roger Horstmann (’22) were the spoilers for CSW finishing 25th and 29th respectively. Great job, gentlemen. In the Girls race, Katie Baum (’21) and Zoe Davis (’21) both finished in the top 10, placing 5th and 9th respectively. We had two of our runners out sick so no team score this week. We are hopeful to have a healthy Girls team and a team score next week! This week started the MBIL All Stars rankings. Katie Baum (’21) is currently tied with two other girls for 2nd and Zoe Davis (’21) is currently tied with three other girls for 8th. Well done, ladies!
