CSW Boys Tennis' With Emphatic 4-1 Win Over CHCH

Brian Tran
CSW Boys Tennis Won Their Match Against CHCH after a 2 year drought.

It was a sunny but very cold afternoon for tennis at Lowell Playground in Waltham, all CSW players showed up for the season opener.

#1 Singles. Captain and Junior Jared had a difficult match with a very experienced opponent who served well with rapid court coverage and his consistent ball striking with heavy topspin. Jared lost 3-8.

GLOBAL SCORE: 0-1

Singles #2, sophomore Miles debuted as new CSW player with plenty of playing experience with an emphatic win. His near perfect technical forehand and backhand along with the good court coverage to control the entire match without much trouble, winning match 8-2.

GLOBAL SCORE: 1-1

Singles #2.
Junior Pharrell came to the match full of confidence and calmness, not giving away free points and managed to force errors from his opponents' shots. Mixing up his shots by changing pace from a flat foreland to backhand slice, he unsettled him throughout the match. Pharrell's serves were on target today with a few aces, leading 6-1. He relaxed a bit to let his opponent back into the match. He recomposed and finish out the match winning, 8-4.

GLOBAL SCORE: 1-2

Doubles #2 Freshman Ryan and Louis made a big impact today with their impressive win against CH opponents. Their communication and ability to work together in position and footwork to move the score ahead and stay ahead throughout the match. Solid serves helped held service games and serve returns helped them break the opponent service games to win the match, 8-2.

GLOBAL SCORE: 1-3

Doubles #1 Junior Tristan and Sophomore Julien's experience from last year helped calmed their nerves and their ability to work together. The match was even at 4-4 until Julien's serves on his service game and Tristan's defense broke the opponents' service games. The match time went on too long so the tie ended 7-5 for CSW duo.

GLOBAL SCORE: 1-4

Congratulations to our boys for a well deserved opening season win.

Next up the Boys will play Gann Academy on Thursday, 4/10. More info will come...
