Social Justice Book Group

Join us for our first Parent Social Justice Book Club meeting Thursday, February 17, 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Zoom! Don't forget to Register!

Our book will be Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer and for this meeting we will be discussing the Preface and Chapter 1. We are intentionally keeping the reading short to make this group welcoming and accessible. We selected this book to complement the theme of CSW’s Social Justice Day on April 13: “Decolonizing History and Society." Kimmerer helps us understand a new way of viewing our relationship with the earth based on indigenous wisdom. You can read more about Braiding Sweetgrass here

At our first meeting we will decide how often to meet and what other materials we might read and view together. We'd also like to invite you to co-facilitate future meetings!

CSW—a gender-inclusive day and boarding school for grades 9-12—is a national leader in progressive education. We live out our values of inquiry-based learning, student agency, and embracing diverse perspectives in every aspect of our student experience. Young people come to CSW to learn how to learn and then put what they learn into action—essential skills they carry into their futures as doers, makers, innovators, leaders, and exceptional humans who do meaningful work in the world.
