CSW Welcomes Artist and Activist Marquis Victor as MLK Day Speaker

CSW was proud to welcome multidisciplinary artist and activist Marquis Victor to campus as its 2025 MLK Day Speaker. Victor is the founder and executive director of Elevated Thought, an art and social justice organization that provides creative access, exposure, and opportunity for youth and artists of color.
In his assembly address, Marquis shared his journey from his childhood to today, describing some of the trials and tribulations he faced on the road to becoming an artist. He offered insights on the work he does today, encouraging young people to tap into their individuality and never shy away from their dreams.

After the assembly presentation, Marquis teamed up with two former apprentices at Elevated Thought to offer a smaller group discussion, in which students were able to ask more questions about our guests' work and solicit advice on how to embrace challenges and thrive as working artists.

CSW thanks Marquis and his colleagues for an amazing day of dialogue in honor of MLK and all that he stood for.
