DEIB Strategic Initiative

Purpose
  • CSW is a microcosm of the larger society and we have to address systemic inequities here first
  • Concerns have been voiced about racial equity on campus
  • We want to explore the experience of and give more voice to students of color
  • We want to include the community in this process. Hence the task force is comprised of board members, administrators, faculty, staff, students, alums, and parents.
Charge
CSW's Racial Equity Task Force will define the desired outcomes for the experiences of students of color, and determine which data to collect and analyze to ensure that CSW continues to make progress on advancing racial equity. It will also analyze existing data and produce a report with findings and recommendations, which the Dean of Equity and Inclusion and the Head of School will present to the Board of Trustees.

Goals
  • Ensure student of color have equitable access to opportunity and participation in school life.
  • Make sure students of color feel supported, affirmed, and experience a sense of belonging.
  • Embrace anti-racism as a way of being: a school free of racial bias and institutional racism.

Young people come to CSW to learn how to learn and then put what they learn into action—essential skills they carry into their futures as doers, makers, innovators, leaders, and exceptional humans who do meaningful work in the world.
