"Every year I look forward to basketball season in mods 3 and 4. I love when we organize pick-up games after practice, during open blocks, or on weekends. It doesn't matter if you are on JV, Varsity, or are there just for fun. Everyone simply wants to have a good time and get better.”

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE GREATEST STRENGTH OF CSW'S ACADEMIC PROGRAM?

The strong student-teacher relationships at CSW have allowed me to feel comfortable participating, asking questions, and trying new things academically.

OF ALL THE CLASSES YOU'VE TAKEN HERE, WHICH HAVE BEEN YOUR FAVORITES?

Writing About Reading
I've always preferred STEM classes, but this required sophomore English class was awesome. We read one of my favorite books: F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and had some of the most meaningful and entertaining classroom discussions I've ever participated in.

Algebra 2
Math is my favorite subject and the best math class I have taken at CSW so far has been Algebra 2. The classroom environment was always energetic and it was the first time I had Rashid as a teacher, who often weaves real-world context into math problems.

Jews and Anti-Semitism
My knowledge of the history of specific religions before taking this class was almost non-existent, and while adapting to old texts was difficult, it was very fulfilling.

WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS AT CSW?

  • When our varsity basketball team won the division championship.

  • Helping organize CSW's Walk for Hunger alongside other A-Board representatives.
  • Meeting some of my closest friends in my 6-person 9th grade Spanish class.

HOW HAS YOUR TIME AT CSW SHAPED YOU AS A PERSON?

Since classes are constantly shifting because of the Mod System, I've been able to interact with many different people of varying interests and personalities that I may not have otherwise gravitated towards if I just saw them walking by. Because of this, I've built friendships with unexpected peers and learned how to connect with those who don't share similar interests to me.

Favorite Spot on Campus: Whenever there is a period of free time, you will usually find my friends and me playing basketball at the Fit. The facilities are fantastic.

Favorite Dining Hall Menu Item: It has become tradition for me to check the weekly dining hall menu on Monday morning and hope that General Gao's chicken will appear. Whenever it's on the menu, it's imperative that you ask your B Block teacher to let you out just a couple minutes early, or else, you're going to wait through a looong line.

Favorite D Block: Basketball!
